We at School Road Publishing would like to acknowledge the previous owner, Konstantin Richter and his wife Verena Friederike Hasel for their courage in taking over North & South magazine following the abrupt closure of Bauer in 2020. We would not have this extraordinary opportunity to publish one of New Zealand’s critically important and iconic magazines had they not kept it alive during that turbulent, pandemic period of our history.
Our commitment to our readers and our subscribers is that we will bring together some of New Zealand’s most awarded investigative journalists to deliver a dramatically superior read in the future. Testament to this legacy, were the numerous accolades we achieved this weekend at the Voyager Media Awards, with Pete McKenzie taking the win for Junior Feature Writer of the Year for his features in North & South including ARGO II; Click and Collect for Drugs and Our Man in the Shadows.
We hope you enjoy our June edition. You will have noticed our new masthead design combined with a stunning front cover shot. We have designed this to work harder on the retail shelf. Our July issue will be our first full issue commissioned and printed by us and you can expect to see some further updates to the internal design and content strategy.
We are committed to growing our subscriber base and keep printing this iconic magazine whilst finding new ways to keep it relevant in the digital world.
